  • Your shoes are nice. Are they expensive?
We say:
- Is your father at work? / Is he at work?   (not  'Is at work your father?')
- Are your shoes new? / Are they new?     (not  Are new your shoes?')

     The short form of  'who is'   is who's
     The short form of  'where is'  is where's
     The short form of  'when is'  is when's
     The short form of  'how is'  is how's
