Past simple (I slept well last night)

                                                              She slept well last night.
a) Study these examples:
Gladya : Look! It's raining again.
Cantika: 0h no, not again. It rained all day yesterday, too.

Rained is the past simple tense.
We use the past simple tense to talk about actions or situations in the past.
              - I very much liked the party.  (now, '' I don't '')
              - My mother passed away in 2009.
              - She passed her examination because she studied very hard.
              - Yesterday I went to Jakarta to see my relatives.
              - The school fee was very cheap when I was in High School.

b) Most of the past simple tense ends in  -ed (regular verbs).
For example:   invite > invited   decide > decided   stop > stopped   work > worked
clean > cleaned   start    > started   stay   > stayed     finish > finished

             - We invited all friends to join the group.
             - They decided to join with us.
             - The officer stopped her on the way to work yesterday morning.

But many important verbs are irregular.
This means that the past simple does not (only) end in  -ed.
For example:

go  >  went     We all went to vote on Feb 15, 2017.
